ABOUT DENNIS PHILLIPS

I've been married to Claudia Phillips for 22 years (tomorrow is 22d anniversary). We have cats. We used to volunteer for a local non-kill animal shelter, but it's been a long time since then.

I grew up in Alexandria VA. I was a college shot-putter at JMU. I went to Norwich University in the summer of 1989 for a total immersion 7-week Russian language school. That helped prepare me for a semester at Moscow Aviation Institute in Moscow USSR in Fall 1990. I was a stockbroker before going to law school (and also after, for a while). I went to law school to get deeper into financial planning / tax planning / asset protection planning, but due to the lack of urgency, I wasn't getting enough clients to sustain myself. So, I ended up at the courthouse defendant mortgage foreclosures in 2000 and 2001. I hated it. My friend talked me into joining him at his firm (Kelly Kronenberg) defending workers' comp claims. I did that for about 2-3 years, then my then girlfriend, now wife, talked me into switching to Plaintiff's PI. She was a former adjuster and a current plaintiffs' paralegal.

Before college, I enlisted into the US Navy and attended Naval Academy Prep School (NAPS) on the Naval base in Newport, RI. All the military academies have a one-year prep school that they use to red-shirt recruited athletes (I played football there).  NAPS feeds US Naval Academy and Coast Guard Academy, MAPS feeds US Military Academy (West Point), and the Air Force Academy Prep School feeds USAFA.
